Shoulder Arthroscopy
Shoulder arthroscopy is surgery in which a tiny camera called an arthroscope, which is inserted through a small incision (cut) in the skin, to examine or repair the tissues inside or around your shoulder joint is used.
The arthroscopy is a surgical technique where about four very small incisions in the skin (4 mm) and through which are made, you can enter the work items that allow repairs required in a minimally invasive manner.
With shoulder arthroscopy and check we can see in different positions of the arm, where the injury or conflict of structures exist. We can also perform surgery in the joint with tiny instruments that are inserted through small incisions.
Shoulder arthroscopy has led to better see small details and dynamic thus increasing the possibilities for treatment of minor injuries that could become serious but left untreated.
Arthroscopy can be repaired tear and traumatic or degenerative tears of the rotator cuff tendons (supraspinatus and infraspinatus) that prevent or lift the shoulder also recurrent dislocation shoulder (Bankart lesion), solving the instability in recurrent shoulder dislocation.
After surgery.
Usually stay in the clinic is usually 12-24 hours to remove the drains.
In the post-operative ice packs are placed and liabilities and shoulder pendulum exercises are started. However, if there are sutures, the arm remains in a sling and in proper position to prevent the tension of the suture. Then he will go and assisted passive exercises, active exercises but never breaking or loosening of the anchors do not occur.
In the weeks following rehabilitation usually includes cryotherapy, active exercises to recover rotations, strengthening of the deltoid muscle and finally all the muscles that form the rotator cuff.
If there are no sutures or muscle retractions, usually achieved early mobility and normal force between 4-6 weeks, but if there are sutures strength and full mobility are obtained between 2-3 months.
